The Carpenter Assistant will assist the carpenter in performing general carpentry work during construction, renovation, or repair in a residential and commercial building. This position will provide support to the Construction and Facility Services Team.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday.

**Essential Duties include but not limited to**:

- Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of materials needed.
- Cutting, shaping, and smoothing limber and other materials according to measurements.
- Demolition and renovation of tenant suites - tearing out floors and replacing them, replacing cabinets and counters, drywall, mudding and taping, sanding and painting.
- Duties assigned during renovation, construction, and company safety program.
- Comply with Manitoba Safety and Health Standards.

**Qualifications**:
**Education & Experience**:

- Grade 12 education and minimum 3 years experience in a carpenter assistant or construction role
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measuring tools.

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Ability to provide quality workmanship and comply with Thorwin quality standards.
- Good understanding of safe work practices
- Able to move and lift 50 lbs.
- Attention to details and good problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work on tight deadline.

**Working Conditions**:

- Outdoor conditions may include dust, heat, cold, rain and noise
- Physical strenuous work
- Working at heights

**Others**:

- With a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to various sites.
