Overview:
**Responsibilities**:
In this role, the Asphalt Technician will be responsible for:
- Developing asphalt binders used in hot mix asphalt products
- Performing recycled asphalt extraction using a large scale centrifuge and evaporation process
- Assisting in basic laboratory clean up and organization
- Performing mix performance testing
- Working on new product development for Lafarge's Business Units located throughout Western Canada
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Adhering to all safety procedures and protocols
Qualifications:
**Education**
- Grade 12 Diploma and related experience
- First year of Chemical Technology or Civil Technical Program preferred (other programs may be considered)
**Competencies**:
- Positive, responsible individual capable of working effectively with limited supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work safely in a ‘Team’, Customer Focused environment is essential
- Able/willing to perform physical work in a construction environment.
- High attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Strong computer knowledge (Ex: Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
- Valid AB Driver’s License is required along with a reliable means of transportation
