The Infection Control Coordinator, is accountable and responsible for providing infection and prevention control expertise and leadership in the implementation of program initiatives and deliverables; developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating infection control programs as well as building capacity internally and externally to detect and manage infection prevention and control (IPAC) issues while serving the needs of resident, families and colleagues.- Completed post-secondary education in a health related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
- Possess the qualification requirements to certify with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 79 and Ontario Regulation 102/22 (5).
- Minimum of 2 years experience of relevant infection prevention and control related experience with a comprehensive understanding of IPAC practices and program service delivery.
- Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation, evaluation and ability to contribute to continuous quality improvement in relation to infection prevention and control.
- 1 year of previous experience in long term care or health care sector.
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and its regulations is preferred.
- Proficiency with PointClickCare (eHCR) an asset.
- Ability to conduct effective infection risk assessments, problem solving, and conflict resolution to respond to issues with tact, diplomacy and professionalism.
- Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
