**THE ROLE**
As the Fitness and Sports Equipment Maintenance Person, you will be responsible for operating equipment as required, performing regular checks and maintenance on fitness and sports equipment while also testing fitness equipment and adjusting repaired fitness equipment for proper functioning.

As the incumbent, you will also have to inspect equipment and facilities for safety and take corrective action as required and repair or replace defective or worn out parts and components on various types of fitness and sports equipment using hand, power or specially designed tools.

**QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED** Education, Certifications and Licenses**

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

A valid G (Ontario) or Class 5 (Quebec) driver license.

**Knowledge**

Of sports facilities

Of operation, mechanics and repairs of various fitness equipment

Of the maintenance and repair of indoor/outdoor sports equipment

Of health and safety practices

**Experience**

In operation, mechanics and repairs of various fitness equipment and maintaining fitness equipment

In the maintenance and repair of indoor/outdoor sports equipment

**Competencies, Skills and Abilities**

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

Bilingual Essential

**OTHER INFORMATION**
In this role, you will also request and receive quotes from suppliers as directed by your supervisor and initiate procurement of required items for purchase. As the incumbent you will provide monthly financial record management of expenses via online reporting, and practice safe material handling of various equipment or items.

Fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs are delivered by PSP on Bases, Wings and Units across Canada and in deployed operations. PSP delivers evidence-based programs, which contribute to the health and well-being of the military community and operational effectiveness of the CAF.

Heavy lifting required (50lbs+).

This unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the UFCW local 175 bargaining unit at CFSG Ottawa-Gatineau.
