Facilities Maintenance Technician

Ottawa, Canada Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group Full time

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of maintenance tasks including: electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, masonry, dry wall and painting, throughout TD Place and other routine maintenance to help ensure proper and safe operation on a daily basis.

**_ What you’ll do:_**
- Receives, prioritizes, and completes maintenance requests of all types with mínimal supervision. Recommends if outside trades are required;
- Performs regular inspections to identify deficiencies and safety issues. Completes repairs as required;
- Deals with contractors and suppliers on a regular basis;
- Makes calculations, reads blueprints, and uses a variety of tools;
- Plans and completes all other maintenance jobs using broad range of skills;
- Ability to prepare time and material estimates; to use computerized maintenance management system;
- Supports event and programming set-up and teardowns;
- Other duties as assigned by management.

**_ What’s needed:_**
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Experience and training with Working at Heights, platform lifts, lift trucks;
- Computer skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and standards such as workplace health and safety;
- Able to read blueprints, drawings and specifications;
- Ability to communicate clearly and with tact and to prepare accurate reports and documents on activities;
- Self-motivated, energetic team player able to deal with an extremely fast paced environment;
- Sound organizational, coordinating, time-management, and personal interface skills;
- Flexibility with work schedule nights, weekends, and holidays.

**_ Working Conditions:_**
- Work requires significant physical effort, walking (including stairs), and lifting weights up to 50lbs;
- Work requires utilizing tools and equipment that could cause physical injury if not handled and operated following safety practices and procedures;
- Required to follow WHMIS and provincial Health and Safety requirements;

Due to the nature of the industry, the Employer is not eligible for workers’ compensation insurance under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario.
