**Who We Are**

The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits. For nearly 30 years, our wholly owned business arm, has worked toward the long-term, sustainable economic progress of our Nation and its members through employment and significant investments in education, training, social programs and infrastructure.

We are looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our team

**Responsibilities**
- Manage the MCFN’s social media platform including the development of a social media strategy and the preparation of related content. (via Facebook, LinkedIn, MCFN Website, Instagram etc.)
- Research and write content for internal and external audiences.
- Assist in developing and implementing communications strategies and practices.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders which includes CEO, Chief and Council and department.
- Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the success and opportunities of communication campaigns strategies.
- Ability to react and respond with speed, accuracy and urgently to communication needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve and build communications across Mikisew Cree First Nation.
- Other duties as required.

**Additional Skills**
- Experience using Canva, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
- Knowledge of SEO/SEM Campaigns and marketing software such as content management would be considered an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (i.e.: Communications, public relations, journalism, business)
- 2+ years’ experience writing and editing in a professional context.
- Organized, detail oriented and adept at time management with little oversight.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven experience in building working relationships with First Nations communities and partners.

**Other Requirements**
- Possess valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Fort Chipewyan as required.
- Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
- Willingness to submit to oath of confidentiality.
- Willing to work flexible schedule. Combination of working remotely, in-office.
- Must provide and possess a clear criminal.
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language (or another applicable First Nation language) would be beneficial.

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
