Victoria, Canada Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society Full time

The Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society (ACEHS) is seeking a Camp Coordinator to aid the participants and facilitators at land-based healing camps with the Indigenous Street Family (ISF). The Camp Coordinator will assist the Land Based healing manager in engaging with various communities on Vancouver Island to provide members of the ISF opportunities to attend land-based events. Working in tandem with communities and community project leads, within community practices and protocols, the Camp Coordinator will develop Work Plans for each camp. The scope of the work will include the overall logistics, preplanning, planning, delivery, and supporting the evaluation of experiences and services.

**Job Details**:
**Position Type**: Full-time / co-op, 35-40 hours per week.

**Term**:8 weeks. Starting ASAP

**Salary / Wage**:$16.75 per hour

**Deliverables**:

- Assisting with all aspects of participant recruitment, outreach, facilitation, and building relationships.
- Assisting with shopping and meal planning.
- Booking campsites, travel, accommodation, and rental equipment.
- Maintaining connections with camp participants, reminding them of upcoming dates including medical dates that may be required to participate - liaise with the participant’s primary caregiver(s).
- Ensuring ACEHS van logs are maintained, receipts are submitted, and that vans are thoroughly cleaned after use.
- Ensuring that camp planning forms are completed.
- Ensuring the completion of camp set up, takedown, maintaining and updating the inventory list and purchasing replacement material and equipment where needed in preparation for the next camp.
- Maintaining contact and check-ins with the ISF.
- Participating in camp debrief talking circles.
- Liaising with participants and outreach pre and post camps for follow-up as required.

**Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Required demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and working in a fast-paced environment requiring troubleshooting
- ** Level 5 Driver’s License - ability to drive ACEH van with passengers** is must.**
- Food Safe Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to effectively respond and adjust to unexpected events, assess high risk situations, problem-solve, and manage conflict in a culturally supportive manner.
- Interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Self-starter with proven organizational skills.
- Understanding of the intergenerational trauma that occurs because of colonization, Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, and other oppressive systems as well as the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
- Ability to work in a holistic, professional, and non-judgmental manner as you are working with a broad range of personalities, needs, cultures, lived experiences and abilities.
- As per the Canada Summer Jobs requirements, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30. Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
