As the Aquatics Program Manager, you will advance your leadership skills by developing an effective and competitive aquatics program offered by the Y. You will use your strategic mindset to enhance internal and external relationships and create efficiencies across multiple branches. You will set the standard for quality in our safety practices. With support from your leaders, you will ensure there is a culture of accountability across the association while maintaining a flexible approach to collaboration and relationships You will partner with other program and general managers to ensure balanced programming to meet the needs of our communities.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and participation in other YMCA activities
- Lead our association’s aquatics supervisor team and support the goals of the association
- Create and implement enhancements in programs, staff development, and safety practices
- Lead operational efficiency initiatives, quality improvements, and best practice strategies
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues across the association
- Help participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA
- Effectively communicate expectations, provide and solicit constructive feedback while fostering a culture of recognition
- Ensure the aquatics program meets or exceeds certifying partner standards and are consistent with internal policies and procedures across all branches
- Monitor aquatics industry trends and lead the implementation of aquatics program innovation
- Evaluate risk within the aquatics program and implement relevant changes
- Ensure aquatic facilities, programs and services meet or exceed YMCA Aquatics SAM (serving all members) standards, YMCA of Northern Alberta standards, Provincial code or any other certifying partner requirements
- Conduct annual review of relevant policies and procedures
- Assist the aquatics incident and investigation process

**What You’ll Need**
- A passion for coaching leaders and spending time on deck to role model best practices
- 5+ years’ experience in a leadership capacity in an aquatics environment with multiple locations or complex programming
- Ability to travel between locations across Edmonton
- Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Education or related experience is an asset
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- Demonstrated experience facilitating training programs
- Certifications Required: Standard First Aid (SFA) & CPR-C, Lifesaving National Lifeguard (NL), Must hold one of YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI) OR Swim Instructor - Lifesaving (SI)
- Other desirable certifications (not required):

- Lifesaving Swim Instructor (LSI), National Lifeguard Instructor (NLI) and First Aid Instructor (FAI) and YMCA Swim Instructor Trainer (YSIT)
- Lifesaving Trainer (T), Lifesaving National Trainer (NT) and/or Aquatic Management Training (AMT)
- Oxygen Administration (O2), Aquatics Emergency Care (AEC) and National Coaching Certification (NCCP) Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
- Must obtain employer specific WHMIS and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
- Ability to maintain all required certifications as current without expiry or lapse, as well as physical and mental readiness
