Production Buyer

**We are expanding and are looking for an experienced Production Buyer to join our team. Preference will be given to buyers with experience purchasing fasteners.**

Working closely with the production, manufacturing, quality assurance and engineering functions the Buyer works to ensure optimum quality, pricing and delivery of components (correct quantity, quality, pricing and delivery schedules). Responsible for the development and maintenance of a specific group of commodities and vendors and is continuously focused on reducing the total cost of the finished products. The Buyer utilizes thorough analyses combined with experience, judgment and skilled negotiation to accomplish departmental goals and to meet performance targets set by management.

**Salary will depend on years of relevant purchasing experience.**

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Effectively communicate supply chain information throughout the organization
- Ensure a continuous supply of components to production
- Maintain and develop vendor relationships (including supplier knowledge, technology, business structure, sales personnel, strengths and weaknesses)
- Process requisitions for new components, proceed with RFx, review and evaluate quotations and select vendors
- Negotiate price reductions and resolve disputes with existing vendors on a continual basis
- Maintain complete and accurate records
- Communicate and enforce quality requirements with vendors
- Work with vendors to determine tooling requirements and minimize cost
- Maintain competency through ongoing skills development
- Conduct tenders as required
- Discuss Supplier Requirements Manual with the vendors and ensure them to follow the procedures
- Additional duties as required when requested by management

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of completion of high school or equivalent
- One (1) or more years of previous purchasing experience
- Completion or current enrollment in CPP or other professional designation is a definite asset
- Ability to read basic blueprints
- Strong negotiating skills
- Ability to read drawings and other technical specifications
- Superb communication ability, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency with MS Office an asset (Word and Excel)
