Buyer

The position of Buyer is responsible for the efficient procurement of a variety of materials and services. The incumbent shall exhibit sound judgment ensuring procurement decisions achieve best overall value for the corporation.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

- Creation of Purchase Orders for material and services within Corporate Purchasing Procedures
- Monitor Open PO reports and expedite when appropriate
- Manage safety stock levels
- Provide highest levels of service to production customers.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with suppliers and business associates
- Conduct and participate in supplier ratings
- Assist Intermediate and Senior Buyers in RFP process
- Have the ability to execute small RFQs unassisted
- Analyze cost reduction opportunities and provide recommendations to Purchasing Supervisor.
- Ensure all relevant documentation is completed with all required information for the purposes of obtaining approvals and recording and reporting business
- Participate in training opportunities as per annual development plans
- Participate in cross training opportunities throughout the department

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

- High School Diploma and minimum 3 years’ experience
- SMT and minimum 2 years’ experience
- 4 year University Degree
- Basic understanding of Corporate Purchasing procedures
- Efficient with personal computers utilizing corporate software applications such as FRED and Syteline
- Demonstrated initiative and motivation to simultaneously handle moderately complex procurement assignments in a team environment
- Understanding of the various functions and responsibilities of the various departments and divisions throughout the corporation.
- Practical knowledge of the various material and services used throughout the corporation
