Loco Fields is an organic (non-certified) vegetable grower located just outside Stratford, Ontario. Our focus is on the production of leafy greens, micro greens, ginger, turmeric, heirloom tomatoes, specialty vegetables, and other salad crops. Our products are made available through farmer's markets in Toronto, Kitchener, Stratford, and through our own distribution to restaurants in southern Ontario and via small independent retailers and grocery stores. We also have recently begun sales with distributors and other wholesalers.

Our primary growing is now carried out directly in the soil under 60,000 sq ft of unheated tunnels and greenhouses as well as some field prodcution

With the focus on greenhouse culture, we operate all year and are less dependent on large single harvests. Our busiest seasons are spring and fall with time for vacation during the summer and winter months We are constantly evolving with new projects and ever-changing crops, and have an appetite for the unusual. Crop trials and research are a big part of what keeps us fresh

There is a strong focus on sustainability on the farm, we have always grown our produce organically without the use of any chemicals. Soil health and the future of the planet, on the whole, are not an afterthought. We use mínimal fossil fuels, and choose humans over machines. Worker health both, mental and physical are both equally as important. We strive to be low waste and are always striving for better, more sustainable packaging or better yet no packaging.

We are currently seeking individuals for full-time seasonal ASAP to December 15, as well as permanent year-round positions. We also have part-time positions available and are open to a conversation on how that may look. The hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm with rotating part-day weekends (to help with watering etc), Market shifts are available for the right individual as well. Hours may change slightly to account for the weather (we like to start early during the hottest days of the year and work with the sun during the coldest days). Wages will vary from $18 to $20/hr depending on experience or skills. The is a potential for a wage increase after the first 3 months, for those with no previous experience.

Farm duties include seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, packing and all other duties required to grow food.

**Job Qualifications and Requirements**

Interest in farming, serious gardening, or plants is critical. You should have a passion for food, whether growing, cooking, or just eating

Although we don’t expect you to stay hunched over all day, this can be a physically demanding job, you must be able to bend, kneel, squat, lift, and work in various positions. Previous experience is helpful, but willing to train hard workers.

The farm is a fast paced environment, you are ofter required to think on your feet. Good work ethic and stamina are big assets.

We do our best to work with the weather, you must be prepared and able to work in all types of conditions, greenhouses can get hot during the day and are cool in the winter. Rain and snow are less of a factor in our operation
We are looking for motivated people that are reliable and have a strong work ethic. Must have strong attention to detail, we strive to produce high-quality products. The farm is a business and other people and plants are depending on us. Must have reliable transportation, driver's license an asset.

Communication and working as a team are important, the farm can be fun and you will be spending some time alongside your co-workers, we try to build a good team of people that are like-minded and enjoy being around each other. Being able to work alone and make decisions is just as critical, dealing with living things and weather factors often requires being able to think on the fly

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
