Nursery Associate / Greenhouse Maintenance & Repairs

Cozyn’s Garden Gallery is a year-round destination shopping experience with greenhouses, garden centre, home décor, outdoor living boutique, Lilie’s Fashion Boutique, and our renowned Christmas store. We are a family owned and operated company that has been in business since 1982, in beautiful Stratford, Ontario.

This is a full time, year-round position which includes assisting in all areas of the operation as needed. Tasks will include but are not limited to: nursery sales, customer service, watering, moving/refilling nursery stock, loading and unloading trucks and carts, basic greenhouse maintenance, deliveries and pick ups, pricing and cleaning. We are looking for a friendly person who actively engages with our customers to provide them with plants, products, information, solutions and service.

Job Includes:

- Care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals including watering, fertilizing, pruning and pest control
- General repair & greenhouse maintenance:

- Plumbing: Installation and maintenance of irrigation lines; basic repairs
- Electrical: Basic repairs
- Poly film repairs
- Working with all plants sold on premise including: watering, weeding, pruning, re-stocking
- Gardening: planting, weeding & maintenance
- Heavy lifting
- Directing seasonal staff in daily tasks
- Loading and unloading carts and trucks
- Local deliveries
- Product pick-up from suppliers
- Operation of Sprinter Van and Cube Van
- Outdoor work in all weather
- Assist store staff with seasonal change-overs
- Fresh Christmas trees: selling, prepping, loading
- Tasks and responsibilities vary from season to season
- Hours of work vary by season; flexibility and availability for days, evenings and weekends is required
- Other duties as assigned
- Assisting where needed in all areas

Job Requirements:

- Plant knowledge is required
- Horticultural Diploma or Degree would be an asset
- Valid ‘G’ driver’s license and able to be insured is required
- Forklift experience is helpful
- Greenhouse maintenance & repair experience is helpful
- Plumbing & electrical experience is helpful
- Friendly & approachable, with an enthusiastic attitude to customer service and sales
- Reliable, hard working, & physically fit
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multitask
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
