Invermere Home Hardware is looking for people like you to join our growing team. We are a family run business and have been successfully serving the Columbia Valley for over 30 years.

The cashier provides all point-of-sale functions, including recording and collecting for customer purchases, processing transactions (cash, credit card, debit card) using retail software, keeping accurate record of all cash, in-house charge, and credit card transactions (debit, gift card etc.), reconciling records of sales with cash and credit information and making sure they balance, and performing various services for customers, such as providing information and confirming prices, all done in a prompt, friendly manner. The cashier performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Operate all point-of-sale equipment, including the cash register, with sufficient speed and accuracy.
- Answer the phone promptly from customers and provide information about products, availability, and store policies.
- Assist customers in locating and comparing merchandise.
- Greet customers in a friendly and approachable manner as they enter the store or department.
- Change prices on merchandise, bins, displays, etc. as necessary.
- Tabulate sales at the end of the day and/or end of the shift and remove cash from the register in accordance with store policy.
- Inform customers about ongoing promotions, discounts, and loyalty programs (Scene) to encourage repeat business and customer engagement.
- Handle phone inquires from customers and provide information about products, availability, and store policies.
- Keep stock in storage area neat, clean, and orderly.
- Assist in training new cashiers.
- Watch for shoplifting and take action according to store policy.
- Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the store, including the checkout area and product displays.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.
- Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ability to work a flexible schedule/including weekends and holidays.
- Experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
- Self-motivated and driven individual who can also work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Friendly and helpful attitude towards customers.
- Must be able to stand on your feet most of the day and bend, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs.
- **Great customer service skills is absolutely a must**

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
