The Commonwell Agent is an energetic, bright, talented, sales-minded professional with a passion for the P & C insurance industry working in a positive and energetic environment. The Agent is responsible for supporting the achievement of Commonwell’s profitable growth goals and objectives through value-based conversations and remarkable member experience utilizing various methods designed to attract and generate new Commonwell members while ensuring retention of existing accounts.

**What will you do**:

- Establish, maintain and continually enhance a professional managed business that promotes a positive Commonwell brand, agent image and community profile
- Actively source and qualify prospective members to meet or exceed sales targets for a given time period and geography for The Commonwell, ensuring a thorough understanding of individual client needs and requirements
- Identify and propose effective risk-management solutions for new and existing members
- Utilize a suite of new member sourcing strategies (e.g. referrals, networking, mailings, phone solicitation, presentations, social media platforms)
- Continually monitor and evaluate business results relative to planned strategies and activities to determine effectiveness and implement required corrective actions
- Provide local market and competitor intelligence that may impact the book of business
- Participate in worthwhile business and community events
- Maintain a profitable and growing portfolio
- Abide by the guidelines of the underwriting manual including activities around target acquisition, relationship establishment, and risk management

**Tools / Technologies**: - Completion of Post-Secondary education is required
- Preference given to applicants with a current Other Than Life Agent License (OTL) or Registered Insurance Broker of Ontario (RIBO) license in good standing
- 3+ years previous Agent/Broker experience in the P&C insurance market, Agricultural and Commercial experience is preferred
- Proven effective sales strategy experience
- Advanced Insurance Risk analysis skills to evaluate risk and design an appropriate insurance program to meet the prospective member needs
- Ability to identify current and emerging business trends with a focus on proactive planning and goal setting
- Strong knowledge of Commonwell’s suite of insurance products (i.e. residential, auto, farm and commercial products) to advise members on policies that best suit their needs
- Comprehensive knowledge of typical risks in rural and agricultural property as well as small to mid-sized commercial businesses
- Knowledge of Commercial policy administration, document management, building evaluators and all desktop systems relative to current position
- Actively source prospective members to meet or exceed sales targets for a given period of time and geography
- Strong understanding Property and Casualty production financial statements and budgets
- Ability to cultivate a strong value based customer relationship that exemplifies The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group core values
