**Terms of Employment**:Temporary 12-week job starting Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Must be able to work through Saturday. August 23, 2025. Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm, 35 hours per week, with some flexibility to negotiate hours.
The Carnegie Gallery is a nonprofit gallery and shop in Dundas, Ontario. The Gallery Shop features a vast array of fine art and craft its regional Artist Members created. The Gallery Exhibition space exhibits art and craft created by contemporary Canadian artists, with exhibitions changing monthly. We also offer various educational programs, like lectures, children’s art classes, bus trips, and fundraising events like our Carnegie Concert Series and Secret Gardens Tour.
The E-commerce or Digital Marketing Assistant will play a crucial role in providing essential support to the Carnegie Gallery's Fundraising and Marketing Specialist. This involves assisting with various tasks associated with the maintenance and improvement of a new online shop. Ideal for students with a passion for digital marketing, e-commerce, and an interest in fine art, this position supports our mission to connect art with the community.
**Responsibilities**:
- Update and maintain the online shop’s front end.
- Accurately input and update product details such as descriptions, specifications, images, weights/dimensions, and features.
- Organize products and product categories to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Review the website for errors, inconsistencies, or outdated information and resolve identified issues.
- Use DSLR cameras to capture high-quality images of products for the e-commerce platform.
- Edit and optimize product photographs for online listings following established workflows.
- Assist with creating visually appealing content to promote products and events.
- Retail experience is preferred, and gallery experience is considered an asset
- Initiative and creative thinking
- Provide Gallery Shop support (customer inquiries, transactions and answering the phone) as needed.
**Requirements**:
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Familiarity with Google Ads, Google Analytics, and other data analytics tools (preferred).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience with DSLR cameras and photography is an asset.
**Background**
- College/University, Digital Media or Marketing, Fine Art, or related fields.
- Post-secondary school experience in these fields is desirable and an asset.
- Retail and e-commerce are an asset
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Is willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
- Will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) or other Canada Summer jobs
- position during the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) work assignment
