**Job Summary**:
YWCA Edmonton is seeking a Summer Archives Coordinator to play a crucial role in preserving and
archives, developing an archive plan, organizing off-site storage, overseeing digitization efforts, and
performing additional archival functions as necessary.
**Employment Type**:
Full-time (35 hours/week), hours typically between Monday - Friday. Some additional after hours or
must be between the ages of 18-30.
**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of YWCA Edmonton's current archives.
- Manage and organize the off-site storage facility housing YWCA Edmonton's archival materials.
- Implement efficient and secure storage practices to ensure the safekeeping of all archival items.
- Develop a systematic inventory system for easy retrieval and tracking.
- Lead the digitization process for textual records, photographs, and other print media in YWCA
Edmonton's archival collections.
- Create detailed metadata for each digitized item to facilitate accessibility and searchability.
- Reorganize archival content as necessary to identify and separate distinct fonds (collections).
- Arrange and describe the contents of each fonds to enhance accessibility and research capabilities.
- Implement standardized archival practices for consistency.
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders involved in archival
initiatives.
- Undertake any additional archival tasks deemed necessary for the effective management and
preservation of YWCA Edmonton's historical records.
**Qualifications**:

education, job experience and/or volunteering.
- Must be physically able to lift, reach and carry boxes up to 15 kg.
- Must have own transportation.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have excellent communication, time
management and problem-solving skills.
- The applicant must be able to take initiative and work independently most of the time.
- Interest in conducting research and preserving historical documents is an asset.
- Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner.
- Passion for the mission and work of YWCA Edmonton.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Between 18 and 30 years of age.
