**Location**: Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Head Office in Edmonton, AB
**Position Status**: Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Student (May-August)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in crafting and executing communication strategies, plans, and tactics.
- Write, edit, and publish copy for multiple platforms including but not limited to, websites, social media, radio, video and various print products.
- Work with other MNA departments to achieve communication objectives on their projects.
- Assist with content creation, social media scheduling/monitoring, and updates to communications channels.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with administration of MNA Provincial events & programs.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
**Skills & Competencies**
We are looking for a motivated, confident individual who is passionate about Indigenous issues, marketing, and communication practices. Commitment to teamwork is required in dealing with colleagues in an everyday working environment. Other skills/competencies include:
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of digital media.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Experience in SEO, keyword research, and analytical tools (e.g. Google Analytics).
- Proficient in Survey Monkey, WordPress, and other content management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and willingness to learn new skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
- Political and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience in a communications role. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license.
