**SUMMER SPECIAL EVENT COORDINATOR**

The Summer Special Event Coordinator will support the planning, promotion, and execution of two major community initiatives: the **Kick off to Summer BBQ** and **Kicks For Kids Back to School Shoe Drive**. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, outgoing, and passionate about community engagement. Working under the guidance of the Fund Development Manager and Program Manager, the Summer Special Event Coordinator will help secure sponsorships, coordinate event logistics, and engage with local businesses, nonprofits, and donors to ensure the success of both events.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
This is a part-time term position, 22.5 hours per week for 12 weeks. **Start Date June 2 - August 23,**This position will report to the Fund Development Manager.

1. **Sponsorship Outreach**:Assist the Fund Development Manager in securing sponsorships and donations for both the Kicks for Kids campaign and Back to School BBQ.

2. **Event Logistics**:Support the Program Manager with planning, logistics, and day-of coordination for both events, ensuring all elements run smoothly.

3.**Community Engagement**: Identify and contact local businesses to participate in the market/vendor area at the BBQ, encouraging them to rent tables and promote their services.

4. **Kicks for Kids Campaign Support**:

- Solicit in-kind donations of new shoes for children.
- Help recruit and coordinate drop-off locations.
- Assist with donation pickups and inventory tracking.
- Assist at booths to solicit donations

5. **Promotion**:Help distribute promotional materials in the community and engage in outreach activities to raise awareness about both events.

6.**General Event Support**: Provide on-site assistance for set-up, clean-up, and participant engagement on event days.

7. **Event Volunteers**: Work with the People and Culture Manager to facilitate all day off Volunteer needs.

8. **Maintain Accurate Records**:Track sponsor and vendor outreach, confirmations, donations received, and any community contacts made during the term.

9. **Other Duties as Required.**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training and Experience**:

- Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary experience in event planning and/or fundraising is considered an asset.
- A combination of education, training and experience in a related field will be considered.
- Current Level I First Aid certificate.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience in event coordination
- Experience in fundraising and asset

**JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES**:

- Must demonstrate an ability to work on a computer and with a phone system.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Google Suite.
- Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.

- Ability to work independently, set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:
This role may occasionally require evening or weekend availability; advance notice will always be provided to support work-life balance.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 weeks

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
