Calgary French & International School (CFIS) is a full French language immersion co-educational independent school, serving over 800 students from junior preschool through to Grade 12. For over 50 years, families have chosen CFIS because of our immersive French language learning environment that inspires children’s unique curiosity and exploration of the world around them.

The **Embark and Francisation Coordinator** oversees the development and implementation of our late French Immersion program (Embark) and leads the French literacy program. The coordinator will oversee the support being provided by education assistants to students and serve as a coach and mentor to teachers in the implementation of literacy and late immersion programming. The Embark and Francisation Coordinator works collaboratively with several pedagogical leaders, including but not limited to the divisional principals, International Baccalaureate program coordinators, and the faculty to ensure that all departments are working in support of the school’s strategic plan, and to ensure that all programs connected to academics align with the school’s mission, vision and values.

**Core Areas of Responsibility**:

- Develop and oversee the implementation of a late French immersion (Embark) curriculum.
- Coordinate the development of a whole school scope and sequence for a Grade 1 to 7 Embark program.
- Make recommendations for correcting overlaps/gaps in scope and sequence work in French literacy.
- Collaborate with pedagogical leadership to identify areas of priority in curriculum implementation and documentation.
- Provide professional development workshops to faculty.
- Develop an identity and spirit within the curriculum group, consistent with the vision, mission, values and beliefs of CFIS.
- Promote and guide teachers in the vertical and horizontal continuity of French literacy at CFIS.
- Be an exemplary role model as a teacher, particularly in the relevant curriculum areas.
- Analyze and utilize data in education to make informed decisions/develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching and mentoring so that curriculum and pedagogy are implemented to ensure the management of risk to students, and reflect the policies, procedures and practices established by Alberta Education and CFIS.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor of Education
- Master’s degree in related field is an asset
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Alberta Interim Teaching Certificate
- Fluently bilingual (French and English)
