**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop, review, assess and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; including but not limited to Worksafe BC and Ministry of Labour
- Ensure compliance with Worksafe BC requirements by implementing and maintaining effective health and safety programs and initiatives across the organization.
- Performs inspections, audits, and monitors contractor performance.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, ensuring all staff are aware of their responsibilities and equipped with necessary knowledge and skills; including risk assessments, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review client project specific safety requirements and to develop Project and Site-Specific Safety Management Plans that ensure compliance with client safety requirements.
- Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and
- Implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports, training records, and safety inspections.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in health and safety regulations, and proactively develop and implement procedures.
- Foster a positive safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and engagement across the organization, and recognizing and rewarding safety achievements.
- Manages and Chairs the Health and Safety Committee

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Knowledge of, and respect for, First Nations history, culture, and socio-economic contexts; keen interest in working for an Indigenous business seen as essential. Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or business is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational H&S or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Health & Safety Officer
- Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle
- Solid knowledge of WorkSafe BC
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, CSP,OFA) is preferred.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing health and safety programs, preferably in the natural resources or renewable energy sector.
- Experience within utility and urban forestry, horticulture, or arboriculture is an asset.
- Field and supervisory experience and certifications (CUA, CF, ISA, TRAQ) related to utility vegetation management is a definite asset.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out a range of fieldwork.
- Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with employees, client representatives and regulatory authorities.
- Drafting of correspondence and forms in a timely manner
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Highly organized self-starter with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptive with tight deadlines, changing priorities and client requests.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Experience working with Avetta and ISN is preferred.
- WHMIS Certificate

**Working Hours**: 35-40 hour per week, overtime as required.

**Compensation**: $35-55/h CAD( $72,800-$114,400 annually based on a 40 hour work week); Plus, Extended Health Benefits & Pension Plan
