BASIC DESCRIPTION
The Dollard Centre for the Arts is a municipal non-profit arts organization located in the West Island that has offered year-round art classes and events for 40 years. It stewards the city of Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s artistic assets, represents the needs of its creative community and champions the talents of its artists.
The DCA is run by a small, resourceful, creative and committed team. In light of its recent growth and success, that team is now ready to welcome a new staff member.
The **Communications Coordinator** will be responsible for leading the Dollard Centre for the Arts’ communication strategy and related content creation.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Managing Director. Together they:
- determine the organization’s communication needs;
- establish communication priorities and timelines;
- explore and research opportunities;
- conceptualize applicable communication content;
- ensure that the organization’s outreach is cohesive and on-tone.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
**General**:
- Be an essential part of a small dynamic team.
- Ensure proper bilingualism in all communication materials and dispatches.
- Liaise with staff, subcontractors and partners for communication objectives.
- Oversee content creation, acquisition and archiving regarding visual assets.
- Contribute to customer service over the phone and at the counter.
- Assume a leadership role at staff meetings regarding assessments of communication impacts.
**Website**:
- Gather and edit seasonal programming updates.
- Upload course and organizational information as needed.
**Newsletter**:
- Ensure proper and optimal functioning of the DCA’s Mailchimp account.
- Update recipient information.
- Strategize recipient groups based on interest profiles.
- Create effective newsletters based on approved content and strategies.
- Strategize and program all dispatches.
**Social Media**:
- Ensure proper and optimal functioning of the DCA’s social media platforms, including: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Research and copywrite DCA social media advertising.
- Contribute ideas for relevant and engaging material and post approved content.
**Print**:
- Oversee and improve local print advertising opportunities (posters, flyers, ads)
**E-Boards**:
- Coordonate timely submissions for DDO and Civic Centre screen promotions
**Requirements**:
- Perfect written and spoken bilingualism (French and English)
- Demonstrated skill for writing and editing
- A strong interest in the arts
- Professionalism and ethics
- Experience with photo, video and graphic design will strongly be considered, based on samples and/or portfolio
It should be noted that the aforementioned roles and responsibilities do encompass the majority of the work this position entails, however other tasks could be added or removed over time, in accordance to the organization’s needs, as determined by the Managing Director, and salary adjustment would ensue.
The Communications Coordinator adopts and maintains good business practices at all times to ensure that the Dollard Center for the Arts is looked upon favorably by its clients, staff, town executives, partners, service providers and the community that it serves.
The hourly rate for this position starts at $18.00 (based on experience) and weekly schedules include a minimum of 35 hours.

Le-la **coordinateur-trice des communications **sera chargé de diriger la stratégie de communication du Centre des arts de Dollard et la création de contenu connexe.

Le-la coordinateur-trice des communications est placé-e sous l'autorité-e directe du directeur général. Ensemble, ils:
- déterminent les besoins de l'organisation en matière de communication ;
- établissent les priorités et les calendriers de communication ;
- explorent et recherchent les opportunités ;
- conceptualisent le contenu de la communication applicable ;
- veillent à ce que les activités de sensibilisation de l'organisation soient cohérentes et harmonisées.
