Member Engagement Coordinator

The Strathcona Business Improvement Association is looking for a Member Engagement Coordinator to join our team.
The Strathcona Business Improvement Association (SBIA for short) is a not-for-profit organization that plays an important role in supporting the local economic development of the district and improves the community for all.
Member engagement is a key area of work that applies across everything we do. Whether it be supporting the day to day needs of our members through our core programs, doing outreach and getting feedback from members to inform new initiatives, planning and hosting member events, or executing place-specific projects in partnership with members and community, we actively work to create a culture of engagement and pride among our Strathcona BIA membership. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, service-orientated, and collaborative individual ready to put their communication and relationship-building skills to work in the dynamic and vibrant community of Strathcona.
**Key responsibilities**
Supporting members, operations, and member communications
- Develop understanding of our CRM system and keep it up to date with member information and contact info
- Foster positive relationships with existing and new members through day to day interactions, attending meetings, and providing a high level of service and professionalism in all member interactions
- Assist with the design, development, and distribution of member e-newsletters and website content, and other communication materials
- Update and maintain the SBIA website through new content and blog posts
- Assist and support with administrative tasks to ensure the ongoing operations of the SBIA office and organization
- Help schedule and coordinate board, member, and stakeholder meetings
Supporting specific initiatives and projects
- Understand the Strathcona BIA brand, business objectives and audience needs across key initiatives, projects, and communications channels
- Contribute to marketing and promotional campaigns, especially those that involve a high level of member engagement and outreach
- Liaise with the consultant team working on the Strathcona Economic Development and Implementation Plan, and support execution of the project engagement strategy
- Support place-specific projects focused on promotion, activation, and advocacy
- Support in the creation and implementation of project-specific work plans and help coordinate among different project partners that might be involved
- Help support the creation of external social media content and review daily social media accounts including posts, comments, and user generated content
Events
- Contribute to the logistics, planning, communications, and execution of our key annual member events
- Contribute to the logistics, planning, communications, and execution of additional member engagement events and opportunities, such as focus groups, stakeholder forums, community meetings, or business roundtables.
Other Duties
- Be willing and flexible to take on new tasks and assist in projects as required
Desired Experience and Skills
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent job experience in related field
- Related experience working in a network engagement, project coordinator, event coordinator or similar role that involved regular community engagement
- Related experience in events planning, management, and execution
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining effective relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of effective communications and engagement practices
- Proficient computer skills; graphic design experience is an asset
- Well-organized with strong project management skills
- A keen eye for detail
- Exceptional work ethic and strong integrity
- Experience working in a office environment and the flexibility needed to work in a small team
- Ability to adapt to a face-paced and changing environment
- A strong connection to the community of Strathcona and knowledge of the vibrant businesses and organizations that call Strathcona home is an asset
- A passion for small businesses and the role they play in the growth of local economic activity
