**Job Description** AECOM**is looking for a **Hydrogeologist**to join its team in Edmonton, AB. This is a **Full-time**role.
**Responsibilities**:
- Work within a team of engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, geochemists, groundwater modellers and water quality modellers on a wide variety of projects.
- Working on hydrogeological projects across Canada including contaminated sites, remediation, hydrogeologic characterization for water supply assessment, water supply development, and hydrogeological characterization for mine development, operations and closure.
- Design and execute hydrogeological investigations including ground disturbance planning, drilling, and logging of soil and rock core, sampling of soil, rock, groundwater and vapour, borehole instrumentation, monitoring well design and installation, and aquifer testing.
- Lead contaminant hydrogeology assessments, including development of conceptual site models, determination of hydrostratigraphic properties and groundwater flow directions, and assessing contaminant fate and transport in the context of source-receptor pathway analysis.
- Contribute to the development of problem formulation for site-specific risk assessments.
- Providing ongoing mentorship to junior staff both in field and office.
- Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with mínimal direction.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
- Conducts research and does investigation work as required.
- Plans and organizes project studies as a Deputy Project Manager and Task Manager.
- Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
- Experience with geological interpretation and cross section development, borehole geophysical logging, In-Situ PFAS remediation design and performance evaluation, soil logging and mixed media sample collection, remedial investigation planning and development, Incremental Sampling Methodology (ISM) soil sampling design and evaluation, and groundwater - surface water interaction Pathway evaluations, and technical reporting and review.
- Proficient in hydrogeological and hydrologic modeling for simulating and predicting groundwater conditions and groundwater - surface water interaction interactions.
- Lead subsurface investigations through overburden soils as well as bedrock, including open and cased hole geophysical logging.
- Experience with mixed media sample collection including but not limited to: soil, sediment, groundwater, pore water, surface water, residential drinking water and soil gas.
**Qualifications** Minimum requirements**:
- B.Sc. in Hydrogeology, Geology, or related engineering discipline with a focus in groundwater and hydrogeology and a minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or related experience.
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to complete field investigations, travel, and periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs. Anticipated split is 70% office and 30% field.
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial, federal, and municipal acts and regulations.
**Preferred qualifications**:
- M.Sc. in Hydrogeology, Geochemistry or combination of related engineering discipline with related work experience.
- Registered as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists (APEGA).
- Experience using industry standard software for determination of aquifer properties (e.g. AQTESOLV), manipulation of geospatial data (e.g. ArcG
