**Salary**: $3,278.65 to $4,539.52 bi-weekly ($85,572 - $118,481/year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Hydrogeologist is a front-line role responsible for administering the _Water Act_, providing technical and policy advice on groundwater management, and representing the department in resolving related issues. Working within provincial legislation, policy, and business plans, this role also contributes to the development and implementation of a new outcome-based environmental management framework.
In this role you will:
- Provide timely, informed advice to the public, internal teams, and other agencies on cumulative effects and water management.
- Represent the department on water-related committees, ensuring clear and consistent interpretation of legislation and policy.
- Review Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submissions to ensure compliance with the _Water Act_.

**Requirements**:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Hydrogeology, or Resource Engineering/Earth Science/Environmental Engineering equivalents with a focus on Hydrogeology. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years related work experience with demonstrative knowledge of groundwater modeling programs and models.
**Equivalency**: Directly related completed education or experience considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Assets**:
- Applied understanding of contaminant hydrogeology.
- Familiarity with EPA’s groundwater monitoring program, and knowledge of Alberta's geology and hydrogeology.

This position works Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM-4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week.
