**Salary**: $ 24,56 to $ 28,33

We are currently looking for one Medical Secretary to work in our Medical Archives departement.

Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Services, the medical secretary will be called upon to support the entire interdisciplinary team in clerical or clinical-administrative tasks and to perform medical transcription.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist one or more physicians or professionals and the working team in their administrative and professional functions.
- Prepare and enter medical records, reports and requests for analyses, operating protocols or other work into the computer dictated from a central digital dictation and voice recognition system.
- Provide customer service by greeting users, receiving and transmitting messages to the staff concerned and to users.
- Open mail, draft correspondence and maintain file folders.
- Have knowledge of medical terminology and medical transcription in hospitals.
- Respond to requests for information within her area of responsibility.

Regarding Patient Safety
- Reports what may represent a potential hazard to staff, patients or visitors (these potential hazards may be biological and infectious, chemical, environmental and mechanical, physical or psychosocial);
- Attends the emergency measures orientation session and other safety related in-service conferences.
- Keeps updated with respect to policies and procedures and other relevant material regarding these matters (for example: know the various emergency codes; complete the self-learning modules available on SHINE);
- Keeps updated with regards to his/her own professional and/or job-related knowledge and practices and ensure that any professional license and/or certification is on file with the employer.

Qualifications:
Academic requirements
- ASP in medical secretarial studies or DEP in secretarial studies with relevant experience as a medical secretary issued by a school recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport or the equivalent (specialization in medical secretarial studies of 450 hours or in medical terminology or AEC in medical transcription or AEC in medical assistant of 60 hours);

Key competencies
- Knowledge of medical terminology (specialization in medical transcription);
- Knowledge of using a central digital dictation system;
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute;
- Have an adequate knowledge of spoken French;
- Thorough mastery of written English;
- Demonstrate initiative and be autonomous;
- Respect for confidentiality, discretion and interpersonal skills;
- Successful completion of qualification tests related to the duties.
