We are hiring an Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist, who will lead initiatives at the bakery level through a culture of safety, core metrics and proactive solutions. Working with key stakeholders within the organization to identify and assess conditions that could produce accidents or incidents and then collaboratively prepare and recommend corrective actions with business leaders. The EHS Specialist will be the overall champion of the Bakery Environmental, Health and Safety System.

**Responsibilities**:

- Enhance Environmental, Health and Safety awareness throughout the bakery
- Partner with the Bakery Leadership team to provide guidance and technical support on issues relative to health & safety programs, polices and initiatives
- Ensures all safety and environment incidents are thoroughly investigated for root causes and corrective or preventative actions that may be required.
- Ensures correct processes are being followed for any recordable incidents and provide leadership and training to shift supervisors
- Provide motivation, training, coaching, support, inspiration and direction to a diverse work force
- Establish and sustain positive employee engagement through effective communications with all employees in order to foster a safe environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems
- Manage and track all Health & Safety related training documents
- Organize and assist bakery supervision in execution of JHSC meetings
- Assist in Management of Change requirements
- Conducts workplace inspections to proactively identify and control hazards; prepares required documentation and ensures follow up
- Create action plans following any H&S audits and work with responsible departments required improvements

**Requirements**:

- At least two years’ experience in Health and Safety
- Experience in a Health and Safety position in a manufacturing environment is required
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Experience building relationships, collaborating at all levels in the facility
- Proven history of leading and influencing positive change relative to health & safety programs, polices and initiatives
- CRSP Designation (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) is an asset
- Must be able to and have reliable transportation to travel between sites within Ontario.
