Medical Office Assistant

Available shift(s): week days evening 3 pm - 7 pm; Saturdays 9 am - 2 pm.
**Requirements**:
- Abide by CARE4YOU Medical Centre policies and procedures.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant Diploma or similar credentials
- Preferred at least one year working experience in a medical clinic or medical office.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, EMR experience, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated work ethic; positive, patient focused attitude; superior professionalism; dependability and reliability; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer (patient) service.
- Take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to make decisions, exercise good judgment, discretion and initiative when dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to inquiries.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, strong attention to detail, work in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior organization, punctual, reliable
- Evening and Saturday shifts required.
**Duties include**:
- Patient registration, scheduling and coordination of patient's appointments, referrals, investigations, tests, and concerns.
- Answering and calling patients, families, and other medical professionals.
- Upload/scan documents to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and maintain patient charts up to date with all test results, clinical notes, demographic information, etc.
- Handling all aspects of front desk duties such as answering phones, booking appointments, answering patient inquiries, validating OHIP cards, registering patients, updating current patient demographics, billing non OHIP services.
- Processing referrals and requisitions, confirming appointments.
- Sorting and handling office mails, faxes, lab reports - Inventory and ordering of all office, medical supplies, and vaccinations.
- Clean exam rooms after patient visit and monitor and maintain supplies.
- Follow up on specialist appointments and reports.
