**TITLE: Research Assistant - Indigenous Children’s Health**
New Position
**TERM**: 2-year Contract - Full-time (FTE 0.8 to 1.0) 30 to 37.5 hours weekly
**SALARY**:Range $52,000 to $63,000. Will commensurate with skills and experience
**REPORTS TO**: Dr. Carolyn Melro, Research Scientist - Indigenous Children’s Wellness

**CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Research Assistant.**
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
Under the general supervision of the Dr. Melro - Indigenous Children’s Wellness, the Research Assistant will:
- Assist with the submission of scientific writing, including peer-reviewed journal article preparation, formatting, and revisions.
- Conduct literature reviews, synthesize results and communicate findings effectively to diverse groups (including individuals who may not be familiar with research).
- Assist with knowledge synthesis, including citation screening, data abstraction, quality assessments and data synthesis.
- Assist with the development and modification of knowledge translation products, including, but not limited to, presentation slides, and documents and reports for diverse audiences as required by investigators, administrators, and funding agencies.
- Lead the development and submissions of abstracts for consideration in peer-reviewed journals and at academic conferences.
- Assist with the organization of and participate in community events and knowledge translation activities (webinars, seminars, conference presentations, etc.).
- Liaise with the ACHWM team, CHEO RI staff, and the ACCESS Open Minds Indigenous Youth Mental Health and Wellness Network.
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders, including youth, family members and carers, Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Holders, service providers, researchers at all stages of their career, policy-and decision makers, and community organizations in Canada and globally.
- Contributes to the development of surveys in REDCap and manages databases.
- Support quantitative and qualitative data collection, conduct analyses and interpret data/findings.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of research and project files.
- Additional duties may include assisting with participant recruitment, administering surveys, conducting semi-structured interviews, sharing circles, and focus groups.
- Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
- Perform other administrative and research-related duties as assigned
**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES**
- University undergraduate degree in a related field (BA or BSc) (Essential)
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Research Assistant (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
- Able to multi-task and meet deadlines (Essential)
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of research-related software (Microsoft 365, Covidence, EndNote, etc.) (Essential)
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures (preferred)
- Statistical and practical experience using SPSS/STATA or R and REDCap (preferred)
- Qualitative experience using NVivo (preferred)
- Bilingual (English/French) (preferred)
- A valid drivers license and access to your own vehicle (preferred)
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Able to work effectively and independently in a hybrid environment
- Able to be highly productive with mínimal supervision
- Able to travel to support data collection in remote communities and present at conferences.
**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy; and
- Pass a Police Record Check.
