**Research Assistant**
**12-month, part time contract (3 days per week)**
**Ottawa, Ontario, Canada**

The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is looking for a Research Assistant to support our forward-thinking competency-based assessment program and the Practice-Ready Assessment Longitudinal Study. Reporting to the Medical Education Advisor, you’ll lead research analysis that drives program development and evaluation. You’ll also work closely with a passionate team in the Assessment Department to ensure our research and evaluation strategies are not only effective but aligned with the latest in medical education best practices. **What you’ll do**
- Conduct quantitative (e.g., descriptive statistics) and qualitative (e.g., coding, thematic analysis) data analyses
- Contribute to the development of research instruments (e.g. surveys, interview guides)
- Interpret findings and contribute to research discussions
- Contribute to the development of evaluation frameworks and the design and execution of program evaluations
- Collect and analyze evaluation data to assess program effectiveness and support decision-making
- Assume additional research and program evaluation duties, as required
- Support principal investigators in managing research timelines and deliverables, and project logistics
- Coordinate research-related meetings and documentation
- Conduct systematic and comprehensive literature searches using academic databases
- Summarize and critically appraise relevant research articles
- Prepare summaries, presentations and reports of findings and communicate them to interested parties
- Contribute to manuscript drafting, and preparation of conference presentations
- Assist in manuscript submission
**What you need to succeed**
**Experience**
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience conducting academic research
**Technical Skills**
- Solid understanding of research methodology
- Statistical programming and data management skills
- Proficiency in common data collection and data management tools including but not limited to: Microsoft Excel; SurveyMonkey
- Basic proficiency in use of software for quantitative data analysis
- Knowledge of ethical data handling and storage
- Skilled in academic writing
- Commitment to continuous improvement and educational scholarship
**Competencies**
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
**Education**
- A Bachelor’s degree in sciences, health Sciences, education, or equivalent
- A Masters degree would be considered an asset
**Language**
- Advanced oral and written skills in English are required, with oral and written skills in French considered an asset
