Associate Vice President, Philanthropy

Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropy, the Associate Vice President, Philanthropy (AVP) is a passionate philanthropy advocate responsible for setting the strategic direction and priorities for engagement of donors at the principal gift level ($1M+ donations). The AVP will create and implement fundraising strategies with top level donors and potential donors of ROM, carrying a personal portfolio of approximately 50 high net worth donors and potential donors. As a key member of the philanthropy team, the AVP will have a leadership role in the development of our comprehensive campaign as we seek to raise funds to support the ROM’s exciting priorities of infrastructure, endowment, emerging curatorial and program priorities, and core operations.

ROM Governors is recruiting an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional known for curiosity, skilled and artful engagement; someone who listens and quickly grasps donor drivers and interests and is able to synthesize information into a solid relationship plan. **Primary Objective of Position**

Within the Philanthropy portfolio, the AVP is primarily responsible for a philanthropic revenue stream realized through significant major and principal gifts from individuals and foundations and provides leadership, strategic direction and priority-setting for their portfolio of donors and potential donors.

The AVP raises funds to support ROM’s emerging program priorities, projects and core operations and works with museum partners, board members and others to facilitate strategic philanthropy.

The AVP works closely with the Vice President, Philanthropy (VP) to facilitate planning and implementation of strategies required to support direct and indirect reports, senior administrators and volunteer leadership to achieve success in soliciting major and transformational gifts in support of the Royal Ontario Museum.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Donor Relationship Management
- Manages a portfolio of approximately 50 principal gift potential donors and assumes responsibility for cultivation and solicitation, both individually and/or in collaboration with the President & CEO, ROM Governors (President), Director and CEO, Royal Ontario Museum (ROM Director), VP, Philanthropy, volunteer leadership and/or staff.
- Works collaboratively with prospect management (including research, rating, assignments, and tracking cultivation and solicitation activities) and stewardship (including donor relations, recognition systems and stewardship events) for all potential and current donors in accordance with a sequence and time frame that sustains fundraising momentum and achieves specified objectives.

Philanthropic Giving Program Leadership
- Plays a leadership role in developing fundraising strategies to increase and maintain philanthropic support from individuals, corporations and foundations in line with the Museum’s highest priorities.
- Works collaboratively across revenue programs to develop optimal and integrated strategies for philanthropic solicitations, builds fluency in funding priorities, shares learnings from donor interactions, develops strategies to build the principal gift pipeline and leverages donor-facing activities and communications created for other revenue streams and donors.
- In collaboration with the VP, Philanthropy and independently, identifies funding priorities with ROM staff and converts priorities into action plans and gift opportunities that match donor interests.
