To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a **Manager, Nursing Education and Academic Affairs** - to support the **Nursing Professional Practice and Education Department**.

As a key member of the Academic Practice Portfolio and reporting to the Director, Nursing Education and Academic Affairs, the Manager, Nursing Education and Academic Affairs leads the development and management of nursing education in all aspects. These include nursing employee and learner orientation, onboarding and transition to practice, preceptor training, competency enhancement and education scholarship.

The Manager collaborates with academic partners identifying and developing opportunities for innovative approaches to nursing student placements and mentorship. The manager is also responsible for the promotion of a culture of continuous professional development in alignment with Sinai Health’s Academic Practice Strategy, leading corporate nursing and interprofessional education initiatives.

In addition, the Manager will place a keen focus on transition to practice, which is foundational to the successful recruitment and retention of nurses. The Manager will also coordinate, implement and report on key Ministry of Health funding initiatives related to nursing resources including oversight for Clinical Externs and Nursing New Graduates.

**Responsibilities**
- Partner with academic partners and internal stakeholders to support the development, continuous improvement and excellence of all aspects of nursing learner experiences. This includes the negotiation and coordination of on-site placements for all levels of nursing learners, orientation and onboarding, occupational health compliance and evaluation including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Assume leadership for the coordination of Education rewards and recognition programs and initiatives for nursing and interprofessional learners and supports the management of scholarship and bursary awards.
- Provide nursing education representation on corporate committees, task forces and external committees.
- Provide assessment, training and remediation of nursing competencies in alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure new nursing employees have the knowledge, skill and ability to provide safe, effective care.
- Establish key performance metrics to evaluate transition to practice programming and provides quarterly outcome reports.
- Design and develop evidence-informed curriculum that reflects current learning needs of nursing new employees. Deliver and evaluate education programs and interventions in nursing practice and patient and family centered care through the enhancement of nursing knowledge, skills, the promotion of patient and nurse safety and continuous quality improvement.
- Leverage technology in the delivery of mandatory training and education with a focus on leading the development and management of eLearning through the Learning Management System (LMS). Provide guidance and direction on LMS functionality and optimization related to nursing practice.
- Coordinate and manage Ministry of Health, Health Force Ontario and other funding sources to support nursing transition to practice and professional development (e.g. Nursing New Graduate Guarantee, Critical Care Nursing certificate, etc.).
- Oversee the Clinical Extern Program and directs the activities of the Nursing Mentor/Coordinator roles hired to support management of nursing Clinical Externs.
- Oversee the management of key organizational and external databases to support safe, secure onboarding of learners and new hires in compliance with legislative are regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage contracts with multiple academic partners and registration and learning management databases including data analysis and reporting.
- Responsible for providing technical leadership/guidance to other employees within the team unit in the performance of their day-to-day activities, and may contribute to the performance management process of others.
