**Position Description**:
The Department of Medical & Academic Affairs is currently hiring a Manager, Academic & Business Affairs. This position will lead and grow an administrative team while providing operational support to the Director, Medical and Academic Affairs. The Manager ensures the delivery of measurable annual objectives, reviews & applies best practices to operations, and builds and maintains a positive and inclusive work culture in the department.
**Here’s What You’ll Get to Do**
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Department of Medical and Academic Affairs, and medical support staff in identified departments. This includes hiring, supervising and performance management of administrative personnel and advising the Director on necessary staff resources to fulfill the mandate of the Department.
- The manager is responsible for the following key programs in medical and academic affairs: horizontal management of research, education and medical administrative support across the Departments of psychiatry, DI and DPLM, including strategic and operational plans, staffing and budgeting.
- Planning, operational management, and delivery of medical education supports across the three departments
- Support for building and enhancing and integrated model of physician support across the three departments and the Office of the CMO.
- In partnership with the Manager, Medical Affairs, managing communication and information systems, space and infrastructure to support the day-to-day operations and strategic directions for the Department.
- Creating, maintaining, assess and documenting policies & procedures relevant to the Departments
- Provide support to the Manager, Medical Affairs for managing the annual July intake of medical learners including liaison with the U of Toronto, Medical Leaders and other departments.
**Here’s What You’ll Need**
- Post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education & experience, in a related field
- Expertise and direct experience with managing research, education, and medical administrative support teams, achieved through the management of complex processes in an academic health science centre
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
- Proven leadership skills coordinating work and processes at an academic or healthcare institution preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, motivate and engage staff in a supportive environment
- Effective problem solver with strong analytical & budgeting skills, ability to thrive in an environment that commands attention to detail and adherence to tight deadlines
- Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal staff and external stakeholders
- Detail oriented balanced with big picture perspective; able to effectively work with new and changing situations in a highly dynamic environment
- Strong computer skills. Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), RedCap, POWER, and Adobe Acrobat
**Employment Type**: Permanent full-time, 35 hrs per week.
