**Hourly Wage: $22 / hr for 30 hrs / week**

The Summer Arts Administrator will support the work of the Vancouver Island Symphony (VIS) in a variety of ways primarily including managing the box office (ticketing) requirements of the 2025 Symphony Sizzle Summer Festival, as well as assisting in general organizational administration, marketing & public relations, event planning and archival & library work.

This is new and seasonal position starting June 16 and ending August 15, 2025.

**I. Box Office Administration**

This position is the main contact for the 6-week music festival that takes place at numerous locations between the Cowichan and Comox Valleys and within Regional District of Nanaimo. The festival will include 45 concerts and events. The BO Administrator will:

- work with IT department to ensure online listings are set-up and correctly displaying and functional
- receive and process festival ticket orders by phone and online
- reliably inform the inquiring public about festival events, schedules and offerings
- record and report weekly to marketing department on ticket sales
- prepare for and set-up onsite (door) sales at each event, including managing volunteers
- process and manage on-site event ticket (door) sales including cash reconciliation

**II. Organizational Administration**

This position will have a variety of general arts administration tasks assigned that will provide hands-on experience with the operation of a regional orchestra.
- Assist the VIS librarian to consolidate, move, and organize of the music library
- Maintain physical and filing systems for the organization
- Support fundraising, production, executive and artistic departments as assigned

**III. Marketing & Public Relations**

As departments are keenly interrelated in a small organization, this position will:

- assist with compiling festival and seasonal marketing materials and distributing them

**IV. Event Planning**

This position will operate the internal box office and oversee the volunteers that work the on-site events. The responsibilities will include:

- prepare and set-up on-site box office, including POS equipment, merchandise, signage
- Coordinate with hosts/locations as required
- Help coordinate, schedule and train event volunteers
- Attend concert & events to assist with service delivery

**Job Requirements & Qualifications**
- Driver's License and clean driving record
- access to a personal vehicle would be an asset
- interest in the performing arts, music, festivals and concerts
- Capacity in managing money, making transactions
- confident communication skills, written, oral and in person
- Some evening and Saturday work will be required.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
