Title: Laboratory Technician - Fire Assay

Education Required:
B.Sc. in chemistry or any scientific/engineering discipline, or a minimum of a 2 year Technician/Technology Diploma and two years experience in a commercial laboratory, or a 3-year Technician/Technology Diploma and one year experience in a commercial laboratory.

**Responsibilities**:
The following responsibilities may include some or all of the following or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the Supervisor.
- Compliance with all safety procedures including MSDS review for all chemicals used
- Compliance with company policies and professional conduct policies
- Documentation of all training at the time of training
- Sample dissolution according to Quality Operating Procedures or standard methods when required
- General chemical and reagent preparations according to Quality Control Procedures when required
- Preparation of samples & calibration standards for ICP/ICP-MS analysis
- Maintenance and trouble
- shooting of ICP/ICP-MS Instrument
- Daily set-up and operation of instrumentation such ICP/ICP-MS according to Quality Control Procedure
- Disposal of analyzed samples and instrument waste
- General laboratory housekeeping with dedication to 5S
- Maintenance of all required logs, files, etc. for area of testing
- Maintenance of sample storage areas including sample storage logs
- Assist in ensuring turn-around time meets LIMS/Support site due dates by working overtime when required/authorize

**Requirements**:

- ISO17025 quality environment and knowledge of the standards
- Experience in an analytical laboratory
- Technical competence in many aspects of the process; problem solver
- Possess strong analytical abilities with ability to multi-task, prioritize and to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines
- Detail oriented, motivated, pro-active with strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and results oriented
- Trouble shooting skills/ability to provide suggestions and act on the next plausible step
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member, independently and work with mínimal supervision
- Display willingness to put in the needed effort to ensure that the tasks are completed in the required time
- Excellent computer knowledge and communication skills in English
- Ability to deliver results on time and to the very high standards
- Willing to work shifts, overtime and weekends if required
- Technical competence in many aspects of the process; problem solver
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

**Salary**: $17.00-$21.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
