A new hire is starting in their role today so you meet to provide an overview of key safety topics, from Rights and Responsibilities to proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Following this orientation, you lead the team of first aid attendants in scenario training, practicing best techniques to use when responding to medical emergencies.

Balancing out your day, you log-in to WorkHub to monitor safety compliance, plan upcoming Crew Talks, and schedule the next series of training days. You are continuously developing and improving policies to ensure the best safety practices, while guiding and educating our team along the way.

**What we need from you**
- A strong work ethic, with a “can do” attitude, founded on a passion to serve others
- Relevant work experience in a similar role
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication, in both spoken and written formats
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience in writing and implementing safety policies
- Experience working with external auditors in COR certification
- Occupational First Aid (OFA) 2 and CPR-C/AED certifications (or a willingness to obtain and maintain certification)
- Solid knowledge of WorkSafeBC/OHS regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License

**Working Conditions**

**Position Summary**

Alongside direct supervisors, the Health and Safety Coordinator’s role is to coordinate the safety of Qualitree’s workers; facilitating training, conducting spot checks and inspections, and ensuring consistent first aid coverage. The Coordinator provides administrative and practical support in implementing and maintaining Qualitree Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC legislated requirements.

This is a permanent full-time position. Seasonal demands may require you to work longer hours during certain times of the year. It is essential to be able to function well in a team setting. There are no special physical requirements for this position.

**Your responsibilities will include**
- Working with management to ensure safety guidelines are properly communicated, implemented, and enforced
- Promoting and Educating a safety-first culture
- Monitoring employees’ and employer’s adherence to safety policies and/or guidelines
- Organizing accident and near-miss incident investigation processes that occur and identifying possible causes of the accident, suggesting changes to avoid them and making sure the improvements are implemented once approved
- Maintaining statistics and records and monitoring accident/incident frequencies and safety violations; assisting in investigations and completing related documentation
- Developing safety policies, safe work practices, and job hazard assessments
- Coordinating and attending safety meetings, Health and Safety Committee meetings, and pre-job safety meetings
- Conducting periodic inspections to promote a safe working environment in all areas
- Assisting in providing safety material for meetings and publications
- Maintaining the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events documents
- Ensuring all accidents, incidents, and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate agencies and internal systems
- Collecting and maintaining H&S related documentation including OHS minutes, training records, safety violations, near miss reporting, and workplace inspections, with corrective actions
