**SUMMARY**:
Responsible for in field coordination the OH&S Program for Jakes Construction and affiliates in the Klaassen Group of Companies. Assists with employee orientations and onsite safety training. Coordinates and completes all duties while promoting and fostering the company’s culture, core values, and vision. Strives for continual safety program improvement, understands root cause analysis of key performance indicators, employee compliance assessments, work site inspections, familiar with WSBC regulations, and overall company safety culture definition and reinforcement. Works in conjunction with OH&S Safety Manager.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.

**1. OH&S Document Control -- OH&S Program Files**
- Incident reporting, analysis and entering incident reports into database
- Maintaining the company profile with policy updates & quarterly reporting
- Tracking compliance with safety policies involving submittals of required documentation
- Assist Safety Manager with development (writing) & review of policies & procedures
- Monitor & maintain the valid status of employee training & certifications
- Administrative duties

**2. Employee Orientations & Training**
- Assist supervisors and support all employees in OH&S policy & safe work procedures
- Assist and facilitate monthly safety training meetings for field staff
- Assist in monthly safety training meetings in conjunction with Safety Manager
- Source & coordinate out-sourced employee training (certifications)
- Document & track expiration dates of training & certifications
- Source & coordinate out-sourced employee training (certifications) to satisfy point 1(f).

**3. Project Set-up**
- Develop Safety Management Plans: JHA, First Aid Assessment, Emergency Response Plan
- Follow-up on site to ensure pre-work is complete prior to commencement of operations
- Develop a site-specific Safety Management Plan
- Prepare supervisors’ project binder, with the SMP & relevant safety documents for the project

**4. OH&S Program Maintenance**
- Chair monthly safety team meetings with management, prepare agenda and meeting minutes
- Analyzing & reporting to management on leading & lagging safety indicators
- When required assist with the monthly JOHS Committee meetings, prepare agenda, prepare & distribute minutes
- Perform weekly & monthly inspections of job sites for compliance with relevant safe work procedures
- Investigate incidents, complete incident reports, and follow up on prescribed corrective actions
- Assist with COR audits

**5. Safety Supplies -- Inventory Control and Inspections**
- Work with purchaser to track inventory of safety supplies
- Inspect safety equipment for condition
- Arrange for calibration/certification of safety equipment as required
- Keep safety supply room stocked and organized

**REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Construction Safety or Occupational Health & Safety training
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Competent with Microsoft Office: particularly Excel, MS Word, and Outlook

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Work overtime as required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
