Role Overview
The Health & Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety systems for both SFTY LTD and our clients. This position is ideal for a professional who can balance regulatory compliance with practical field support and who thrives in a small-team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain corporate health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with Alberta OHS legislation and COR standards.
- Support clients with site-specific safety planning, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for hazard control and mitigation.
- Deliver training and safety orientations for employees and contractors.
- Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Lead internal and external audits (including COR/SECOR audits).
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
- Maintain safety records, statistics, and reporting for both internal and client use.
- Foster a culture of safety by engaging with workers, supervisors, and management.
- Represent SFTY LTD professionally with clients, regulators, and industry partners.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum **5 years of progressive health and safety experience** (consulting or multi-industry exposure preferred).
- Possession of or working toward a recognized safety designation (e.g., CRSP, CRST, NCSO, CHSC).
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Experience with COR/SECOR certification processes.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, inspections, and investigations.
- Strong communication, training, and presentation skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation (field travel may be required).
