**Job Details**:
**Position Title**: Student Community Standards Advisor
**Status**: Full-Time Administration
**Hours**:37.5 hours per week; the position is on-site 5 day per week

Working hours are:

- Nine (9) days biweekly - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; and
- One (1) day biweekly - 10:00 am to 6:30 pm

**Faculty/Department**: Student Connection & Community Care
**Campus/Location**:Lakeshore Campus (occasional work from North campus)
**Salary**:FT Admin 04
**Minimum Starting Salary**:$84,958; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.

**About the Student Community Standards Advisor Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Student Connection and Community Care (SCCC), the Student Community Standards Advisor is responsible for overseeing the judiciary process for all non-academic student behavioural incidents at Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph-Humber, including sexual violence and Human Rights investigations, where applicable. The Advisor will address student behaviour through formal or informal proceedings using an educative and developmental approach informed by a comprehensive understanding of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles, with the goal of fostering learning and development, good citizenship, and accountability. The Advisor conducts thorough and procedurally fair investigations of complaints under the Code of Student Community Standards (CSCS), manages confidential information, documents all aspects of the investigation, and determines accountability and educational sanctions, according to the Policy.

The Advisor will work to establish and enhance relationships with academic faculties and campus partners, providing guidance and support on matters such as classroom management and strategies to reduce concerning student behaviour. In addition, the Advisor will work with the Manager to develop and facilitate workshops for various campus partners, providing education about the CSCS and applicable policies and processes.

**Education**
- A three-year Diploma in a relevant field (e.g. Social Sciences, Dispute Resolution, Justice Studies).
- Bachelor’s Degree considered an asset.
- Equivalent combination of education, professional development/training, and experience will be considered.

**Experience/Skills**
- 5 years’ experience working in a post-secondary environment
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, due process, rights and responsibilities applicable to student judicial process, trends related to student conduct in a post-secondary environment, current issues
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, Restorative Justice principles and practices
- Training in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion demonstrating a knowledge of how issues of equity intersect with student behaviour and the CSCS
- Demonstrated experience with investigation and interviewing techniques
- Knowledge of trauma informed principles and practices, particularly relating to sexual violence investigations
- Mental Health training (e.g., Mental Health First Aid; Recognize, Respond, and Support Students in Distress)
- Knowledge of Ontario Human Rights Code; investigation/adjudication training
- Training in mediation and conflict resolution
- Excellent analytical, research, and creative problem-solving skills
- Self directed; ability to work independently; demonstrates initiative
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Presentation/workshop/training delivery skills
- Negotiation skills (staff, faculty, student)
- Utilizes sound judgement, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Banner SIS, Resolver, Advocate)
- Risk and/or threat assessment training considered an asset
- Ability to work in a team setting and independently
