**Job Details**

**Position Title**: Student Support Advisor

**Status**: FT Support

**Hours**: 35 hours per week

**Faculty/Department**: Faculty of Social & Community Services

**Campus/Location**: Lakeshore Campus

**Salary: Payband I**: $36.19 - $41.94

**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Student Engagement, the Student Support Advisor is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of student support services within FSCS. The Student Support Advisor will work with students to understand their individual needs and recommend best course of action that is supportive of student success and will enable students to meet graduation requirements though one-on-one coaching/advising and through facilitating workshops and seminars. In addition, the incumbent will guide students on academic regulations, assist with registration challenges, monitor student progress, and serve as a resource for information. Participation in college-wide student support initiatives, recruitment events on and off campus, and meetings with other Advisors and Program Coordinators on a regular basis is also required. This role will primarily work out of the Lakeshore campus, however occasional travel offsite and between Humber’s two campuses may be required. The Student Support Advisor will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.

**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**
- Three (3) year diploma or degree or equivalent in Social Services, Education, or related discipline.
- Further education (diploma, degree, graduate certificate) in academic advising or career coaching would be considered an asset.

**Skills/Experience**
- Minimum of three (3) years of practical related experience in academic and/or career advising but also including: use of CRM or client management system, collecting and maintaining a database, use of tools/assessments, working with diverse populations, and utilizing digital media platforms for student/client engagement and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good judgment, work with interruptions, and resolve conflicts.
- Demonstrated use of initiative both in workload planning and addressing student concerns and providing adequate follow up to complaints and concerns.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and customer service skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
