**Role Description**

Hummingbird seeks a driven accounting intern/co-op student willing to learn and grow to join our team.

This is a full-time contract Accounting Intern/Co-op position located on-site in Mississauga, ON with a potential permanent full-time position upon successful completion. As an Accounting Intern/Co-op, you will be involved in financial statement preparation, using accounting software, analyzing financial data, journal entries, and supporting various financial tasks within the organization.

Must have a basic understanding of GAAP, Financial Principles, and client confidentiality, and must be ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to participate and learn to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports, learn bookkeeping software (QuickBooks Desktop and Online), and assist with other accounting and office duties.

A motivated team player with a customer service background who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.

**What You Will Be Working On**
- Answering client phone calls, taking, and relaying messages
- Scheduling meetings, taking memos, and organizing documents (photocopy, scan, file, etc.)
- Assisting in preparing information and research materials
- Attending meetings and engaging in group discussions - take notes, scan and manage files (soft and hard copies)
- Maintaining and respecting a high level of confidentiality regarding all client information
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Working with bookkeeping software to prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents.
- Learning how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clients.
- Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn and develop the accounting and office operations

**Qualifications**
- Currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Accounting.
- Experience with Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with financial data accurately
- Proficiency in MS Platforms (Excel, Word)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Possess a background in customer service - we are in the business of serving people
- Motivation and desire to take on new challenges and grow

**Working Days/Hours**
- Monday - Thursday: 9AM - 5PM
- Some Fridays: 9AM - 2:30PM
