Bench Brewing is an experiential craft brewery located in the world-renowned wine region of Niagara, Ontario. Surrounded by Ontario’s finest agricultural land, our location provides the ideal setting for crafting great, approachable beers that reflect our local terroir. The Bench Brewing campus sits across eight beautiful acres and features a 50hL brewing system, a tap and tasting room, a beer garden, a ‘funk house’ for our wild ale and barrel fermentation program, and our very own hops field. Our brewery is a place for our guests to relax, learn, and experience the craft of brewing beer.

**The Role**:
Reporting to the General Manager, the HR Manager is a key member of management team that will provide coaching and counsel to leaders on human resources solutions that support the goals of the organization. This role will develop and implement all key people initiatives across our core business areas of beverage manufacturing, hospitality, and commercial operations (finance, marketing, sales). They will oversee all HR related activities including talent acquisition & recruitment, compensation & benefits, health & safety, and employee engagement and retention. Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
Work closely with the leadership team to identify, develop, and recommend strategies in support of the implementation of key human resources priorities.

Full-cycle recruitment. This involves supporting the development of job descriptions, creating job postings, conducting screenings, extending job offers, and facilitating the on-boarding and orientation process.

Manage all employee exits, performing exit interviews, and conducting terminations as required.

Support the finance team with all elements of compensation and benefits administration, including payroll management for both full-time and hourly employees.

Administration of the Bench Employee Performance Management Process, including retention strategies, professional development and training opportunities, and succession planning.

Review the PMP process annually to incorporate any required enhancements and improvements.

Development and implementation of enhanced HR administrative process and tools to improve organizational consistency and efficiency relating to vacation requests and approvals and absence tracking.

Lead all regulatory compliance and reporting, and support all employee safety, welfare, and wellness education and training initiatives.

Lead and manage all elements of employee relations, including investigations and company-to-employee communications.

Understand and appreciate the cultural nuances between each of Bench’s functional departments. Support leadership and enable managers to own and align our culture and values across all functions.

Develop and implement formalized training, development and engagement programs that support employee growth, retention, and overall workplace morale.

Ensure Bench remains up to date on all relevant industry related legislation, best practices, and HR trends.

A post-secondary degree in human resources, business, or organizational development.

Progressive HR experience - minimum 5 to 7 years in an HR management role.

Designation such as CHRP, CHRL or equivalents considered a strong asset.

Experience in developing and executing HR programs and processes, including the implementation of integrated HR policies in manufacturing and/or hospitality sectors is preferred.

Expert in dealing with employment related matters such as HR policy compliance, attendance management, disability and return to work procedures, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline.

A robust understanding of Health & Safety, Employment Standards, Human Rights, and other government legislation; with strong knowledge of manufacturing requirements such as WHMIS, HACCP, SOPs, GMPs.

Strong ability to work independently and within a collaborative team; a self-starter with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude and a high level of initiative and flexibility, ability and willingness to change course with our entrepreneurial organization when required.

Proven track record of leadership and problem solving. Excellent communication, organizational, and motivation skills are vital. Strong knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems.

Solid understanding of MS Office suite of programs, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint The drive to win as a team - collaborating to achieve success is what we do here at Bench.
