**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Educational Technology Supervisor, the Educational Technology Specialist is responsible advising and consulting with faculty members, contract instructors and teaching assistants on the use of a large and evolving number of educational technologies in teaching and learning activities at Carleton (including face to face, blended and fully online courses).

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- In-depth knowledge of instructional design, course design, learning theories, and educational technologies.
- Demonstrate significant understanding of the principals of adult and technology mediated pedagogy.
- Must have effective project facilitation and organizational skills, along with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Must maintain excellent awareness of and actively researches available educational solutions for best pedagogical practice

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- A Masters degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Adult Education or related field is preferred.
- Two years of relevant and current work experience in instructional design, educational technology support, or other field related to e-learning, preferably in educational settings.
- Teaching experience in a Higher Education environment is preferred.
- Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered.
