The Aeroplan Currency Management team is responsible to manage the profitability of the Aeroplan rewards portfolio. The team is therefore constantly developing levers and program constructs allowing the optimization of the Aeroplan contribution to revenue and profitability of Air Canada, while delivering great value to our members
The growing flow and velocity of information coming from various sources, the dynamic market for flight tickets, hotel and car reservations, the appetite of our growing 5 million strong member base for personalized and competitive offers, requires a highly skilled team that delivers cutting edge tools to track and optimize the performance and set the ground for a best-in-class Loyalty program.
As a Data Analyst, Redemption Optimization, you need to be passionate about using data and your analytic skills to guide business decisions. You will learn to be an expert in the performance of reward products (flight, car, hotel, gift cards, merchandise, etc..) and the overall travel & loyalty industry. You will also have to identify and develop potential improvements to actual and future redemption products offered to members using different methods (e.g: data mining, forecasting and prescriptive/descriptive analysis). You will have the responsibility of translating these findings into high value, easy to understand stories that will be presented to department leaders in the pursuit of maximization of the profitability of the Aeroplan program.
**Key Functions & Accountabilities**:
- Expert in deep understanding of reward and member behaviors as well as the factors that influence the portfolio and market performance;
- Develop advanced knowledge of all data assets and processes relevant to core business support;
- Responsible to provide analytical outputs, insights and summary regarding the performance of key reward financial metrics that lead to concrete actions benefiting the redemption portfolio profitability;
- Produce forecasts of financial metrics integrating historical trends, program changes and behavioral shifts;
- Support production of the financial rewards budgets and outlooks;
- Support management of the rewards portfolio performance relative to the latest financial budgets and outlooks;
- Support development of models allowing better understanding of member and redemption trends;
- Develop solid understanding of the airlines and loyalty industry to support insights;
- Responsible for production/automation of various redemption performance reports that are shared with different business units and used to guide business decisions;
- Support negotiations with airline partners and other suppliers to ensure program profitability;
- Responsible to provide insights and recommendations regarding the performance of the redemption portfolio;
- Assess profitability of future marketing campaigns and promotions and responsible for the post-campaign analysis;
- Share acquired knowledge within the team and contribute to the development of the culture of excellence within the team regarding growth of advanced Analytics skills;
- Produce ad hoc analysis and support of quantification of business initiative impact of financial KPIs and associated risk assessments through financial modeling;
- Responsible for automation of the detection and identification of business deviations from forecasts;
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Business Intelligence or a related field - Master's degree is an asset.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Good knowledge and concrete experience coding in SQL and python.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and/or Power BI is mandatory.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to highlight insights when presenting findings (communicate complex concepts into simple ones).
- Particular attention to data and code quality.
- Mathematics and statistics skillsets including predictive modeling, time series, optimization techniques, machine learning, etc. is an asset.
- Knowledge of the travel and loyalty industry is an asset.
- Experience with Financial modeling or Monte Carlo simulations and tools like Crystal Ball and/or AtRisk is an asset.
