The Data Scientist, Loyalty Science is responsible to lead the development of analytical tools for the Aeroplan Currency Management team. The Aeroplan Currency Management team is responsible to manage the profitability of the Aeroplan program through budgeting of financial KPIs, optimization of reward pricing, and generation of insights allowing decision-making. This role will focus on leveraging data science, analytics, and cutting-edge technology to develop tools and capabilities helping the team manage the profitability of the Aeroplan program while maximizing the value to its members.

We are looking for a candidate having experience in data science and analytics with a strong technical background, as well as proven leadership and innovation skills. The candidate will be providing technical guidance to the team, overseeing multiple projects concurrently, nurturing and encouraging the growth of innovation, and engaging in close collaboration with various stakeholders throughout the organization. This position requires excellent communication skills, business instincts, and a "get-it-done" mentality to ensure that results are delivered while also encouraging creativity and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the pricing capabilities of the Currency Management team.
  • Lead the development of business and technical levers to manage the Aeroplan redemption portfolio.
  • Lead the development of advanced analytical models to drive program innovation.
  • Lead research on emerging trends in loyalty programs and recommend innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Oversee the development of data-driven loyalty strategies, utilizing scientific methods and predictive analytics to optimize program outcomes.
  • Responsible to develop technical roadmap and coordinate with other stakeholders in the company (IT, Revenue Management, Marketing Analytics,
  • etc.) to deliver best in class Aeroplan program and optimization tools and processes.
  • Oversee the analysis of complex data sets to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive the integration of new technologies and scientific approaches into the loyalty program to enhance member engagement and value.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of loyalty program initiatives, from conceptualization to implementation and evaluation.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in loyalty sciences, data analytics, and technology to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Responsible for development of data analyst skills within the team.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Data Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research or related field.
  • At least 7 years of industry experience in data science, operational research or similar quantitative roles in industry or academic environment.
  • Proven expertise in fields like predictive modeling, revenue management, operational research, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficient with Python and SQL and experience with programming languages.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) is a strong asset.
  • Innovative and strategic thinker, with a passion for leveraging science and technology to drive business results and improve the customer experience.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into a modelling and analysis framework adapted to the decision timeline.
  • Positive thinking and sense of humor.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Localization:

  • Air Canada tower, Downtown Montreal.
