Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Procurement Specialist thrives in a fast paced environment, managing multiple procurement priorities for the City and providing sound procurement advice and sourcing options in a cost effective manner. The successful incumbent will be responsible for a variety of procurement functions including but not limited to preparation of competitive bid documents such as tenders, making requests for quotations and proposals for user departments; setting up evaluation processes and evaluation documents; resolving bid irregularities; performing price and cost analyses; negotiating acceptable prices, terms and conditions and monitoring for effectiveness as well as contract management.
This is senior purchasing work of a special project nature that requires considerable independent judgement and action within the framework of established policies, standards and budget constraints. Duties include assessing business needs, performing research/analysis of products/services, consultation with end users, data analysis, report writing, administration of the competitive bid process and contract management.
The incumbent must possess a minimum Grade 12 graduation, along with completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) program of the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) plus sound related experience, preferably in a municipal or government environment. Experience in a computerized purchasing environment, exceptional computer skills, analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills are also required.

A CUPE hourly rate of $40.29 - $47.57, an excellent benefits package and earned day off program are being offered. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available.
