**DISPATCHER**

**Key Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the position is responsible for ensuring that all shipping requirements are coordinated and processed in a timely manner to meet customer delivery expectations and company objectives. Specifically, the Dispatcher will have the following responsibilities:

- Plan and effectively manage all activities related to the Receiving / Shipping Department.
- Maximize truck loading to optimize transportation costs.
- Develops and maintains strong business relationships with internal (Customer Service, Estimating and Production) and external (carriers, customers) customers.
- Acts as point of contact for drivers.
- Assists in the collection and classification of all fleet and carrier documents.
- Works closely with trucking companies to ensure that trailers are docked for loading; efficient trailer management enables orders to be processed and delivered on time, at the best rate and at no extra cost.
- Coordinate the handling of products released for shipment.
- Keeps abreast of transport regulations and road traffic rules.
- Receives incoming materials and documents.
- Ensures products are stored efficiently to ensure proper inventory rotation, maximize storage space and maintain an orderly yard.
- Communicates daily with customers for delivery follow-ups such as late deliveries, etc.
- Participates in the search for new carriers.
- Demonstrates positive leadership that fosters team cohesion and good working relationships.
- Acts as back-up and/or support for various positions as required.
- Demonstrates an exemplary level of safety; must at all times promote and value a productive and supportive work environment in compliance with health and safety laws and regulations and Armtec's culture of commitment and responsibility.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Performs all other related duties as requested by immediate supervisor.

**Education and experience**:

- College diploma in transportation and logistics management or any other combination of relevant training and experience
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar position - truck fleet management (an asset)

- Good knowledge of transportation laws and regulations

- Sound judgment in decision-making
- Good communication skills to disseminate information appropriately
- Fluent in written and spoken French and English
- Proficiency in MS Office suite software and knowledge of web tools
- Knowledge of inventory management software (ERP) an asset.
