**Job Description - Shop Foreman**

**REQUIREMENTS**:
3.1 **Must speak English well enough to take instructions from supervisor and communicate with employees.**Must understand enough math to verify job requirements and specifications. Must be able to read and write English well enough to read and understand production instructions, work orders, and other paperwork.

3.2 Must be physically capable of moving and removing materials and finished goods from work stations. Must be able to operate and instruct subordinates in the operation of machinery used in the shop.

3.3 Must have excellent knowledge of machine/welding shop operations in a production-oriented environment.

3.4 Must have excellent eyesight and depth perception.

3.5 Must have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot production problems.

3.6 Must have the ability to control a production crew and be able to motivate them to their best possible performance. This position requires a person who commands respect and creates a team feeling among employees.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS

TASKS AND DUTIES

5.1 Assists the President with his/her duties, as required.

5.2 Ensures that scheduled work assigned to Shop Personnel is completed.

5.3 Ensures that work is performed correctly.

5.4 Ensures that work is performed within budgets.

5.5 Reports to the President any production delays.

5.6 Provides the Office Manager with a written report on finished products, such as hard copy of work order.

5.7 Makes routine checks on work in process and job specifications.

5.8 Oversees general maintenance on machinery during shift.

5.9 Reports on the floor at least fifteen (15) minutes before shift starts.

5.10 Responsible for assigning secondary work if primary work is complete. Keeps a list of secondary work that needs to be completed. Procures this list from the President.

5.11 Ensures completion of jobs so that work can be delivered to meet customers’ deadlines.

5.12 Ensures accurate production of jobs in the shop according to specifications determined by the President.

5.13 Ensures that all reporting employees are busy and productive.

5.14 Recommends disciplinary actions, promotions and raises for reporting employees to the President.

5.15 Ensures that supplies are not wasted and that the cost of supplies remains within budgetary guidelines as established by the President.

5.16 Cleans work area daily. Maintains adequate supply inventory (ordered through purchasing person).

5.17 Reschedules rework and ensures proper documentation of man hours for purposes of quantifying the cost of rework.

5.18 Obeys all safety rules and regulations.

5.19 Ensures that reporting employees obey all safety rules and regulations.

5.20 Obeys all company rules and regulations.

5.21 Ensures that reporting employees obey all company rules and regulations.

5.22 Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the President.

5.23 Completes written tracking of production on a regular basis.

5.24 Responsible for machinery shut down.

5.25 Responsible for quality control at all stages of production.

5.26 Instructs reporting employees on machine safety.

6. MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

The Shop Foreman’s work will be deemed to be acceptable when:
6.1 He maintains a good working relationship with co-workers.

6.2 The morale in the shop is high.

6.3 Rework costs due to failure to follow production specifications are reduced.

6.4 The President is satisfied with the quality and quantity of work performed.

6.5 Production volume and quality of work during shift is above acceptable standards as determined by the President.

6.6 Shop areas are neat and clean at the end of each shift.

6.7 Paperwork and reports are up to date and accurate.

6.8 The President has been kept informed of any potential problems with customers, jobs or delivery deadlines.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
