Some overtime or Saturday hours may occasionally be required. (start and end time for shifts is negotiable depending on requirements) **Job Summary and Daily Tasks** - Responsible for the management of all shop employees including shift supervisors. - Provide coaching and mentoring to all subordinate staff - Maintain employee productivity, maximum presence "on the shop floor" is expected. - Manage and monitor hours worked including overtime and vacation time. - Liaison with process management and operations coordinator to schedule machines and jobs for production. - Ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed including being involved with recruiting and hiring new employees. - Enforcing all health and safety regulations and all company policies as well as enforcing ISO quality control. - Making sure that production goals are met and communicating shortfalls or problems to management. - Dealing with shop employees HR issues and communicating to management as required. - Attend production meetings as required - Provide and arrange for training to assure shop employees develop required skills. - Communicate any maintenance issues or machines at risk to maintenance department. - Checking the progress of repairs and service in process. - Scheduling jobs for production in cooperation with sales and the operations coordinator. - Liaison with service and repair contractors along with the maintenance supervisor. **Physical Demands and Working Conditions** - The Shop Foreman tasks include activities that require both sitting and standing for long periods as well as walking, use of stairs and lifting - up to 50 lbs. In the course of regular work, the position will involve bending, reaching and rotational movements. Regular use of a computer keyboard, mouse and monitor will be expected, as well as a desk phone and headset. There may be exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials as a part of the daily working conditions, for which mitigating actions will be taken. **Qualifications** - Proven abilities in a manufacturing environment - Ability to work independently in a busy environment and proven ability to motivate others - Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise all production personnel - Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing - Able to build and maintain relationships with management, other company departments, service providers, and coworkers - Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed - High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability - Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. - Strong negotiation and prioritization skills - Proven dependability in terms of attendance and punctuality - Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer programs an asset - Proven demonstration of following and enforcing all company policies including health and safety. **Education and Experience Requirements** - Post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent experience - Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field - Some supervisory experience with demonstrated motivating, training, appraising and general supervisory skills - Possess a valid driver’s license **Relation of the position to others in the company** - Works closely with management, administration, engineering, and shop personnel. **Note**:This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, or working conditions associated with this role.
