Food Service Manager for Red Deer

**Job Summary**

**Responsibilities**
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the cafeteria
- Determine type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures
- Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
- Recruit staff and oversee staff training
- Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance
- Control inventory, monitor revenues and modify procedures and prices
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies
- Negotiate arrangements with clients for catering or use of facilities for banquets or receptions.
- Supervise and coordinate daily food service operations, including kitchen and dining areas.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance to ensure efficient operation and excellent customer service.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet demand.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling procedures.
- Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems; ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Conduct interviews for new staff positions as needed, ensuring a strong team is in place.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience in food service management or a related field, preferably in a restaurant or hotel setting.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and menu development.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests.
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and POS systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in interviewing and training staff members.
- Bartending/Barista experience is a plus but not required.
