AGS is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our dynamic organization. This role is located at our plant in Oshawa ON.

**BASIC FUNCTION**

Supervise the maintenance department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**

1. Supervise skilled trades staff employed in the maintenance department's function and administer contractors involved in troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and modifications or installations of equipment, relative to the company's manufacturing process, in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements for a safe working environment.
- Plan, assign, and direct maintenance staff and activities for safe work practices to meet maintenance and production demands. Manage performance issues, identify training needs, and arrange for upgrading;
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, plant rules, and legislative obligations. Carry out timely disciplinary processes, and resolve complaints and problems.
- Ensure accurate and timely records and documentation is maintained.
- Attend meetings as required.

2. Supervise maintenance activities.
- Contribute to the planning process of an over-all maintenance program for the plant, advising on needs assessments, feasibility, job details, timelines, internal and external capabilities, safety requirements, parts availability, costs, return on investment, impacts on production, labour relations, and maintenance alternatives.
- Organize the over-all maintenance work program into a work plan and issue assignments to qualified staff along with appropriate instructions and direction. Monitor performance to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with assignment expectations and the performance standards for the relevant skilled trade. Utilize the Megamation software.
- Organize and assign work related to fabrication, installation, bench work, and various non-production work.
- Co-ordinate tools and equipment availability.
- Initiate purchase requisitions for parts, protective gear and special equipment rentals.
- Work with qualified staff on the installation, programming or repair of automated equipment such as robots and programmable controllers.
- Arrange for regular maintenance on machine tools and equipment, replacements, cleaning, sharpening, recalibration, etc.
- Take a lead role in troubleshooting and repair of production machinery and plant equipment.
- Keep senior management informed on the status of the maintenance program and provide suggestions to improve progress.
- Report new or potential equipment failures, process deficiencies and other malfunctions, along with recommendations for corrective action.

3. Take responsibility as a competent person under Section 27 of the OHSA for the safety and well-being of employees on shift.
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training, and they wear appropriate PPE using additional safety equipment when required and follow safe work procedures and practices. Carry out workplace inspections such as layered audits, JHSC safety inspections, etc. Report unsafe conditions or equipment, correcting substandard acts or conditions.
- Respond to incidents, arrange for first aid, and take precautions to avoid further injury or impact. Follow procedures for accident investigation and reporting. Cooperate with internal and external contacts.
- Conduct information sessions such as safety talks, tail gate meetings, and participate in other forms of staff meetings.
- Work with first aiders and other staff to ensure proper treatment and accommodation for employees with medical issues or disabilities.
- Oversee the general safety of the people and plant. Observe and monitor employee safety and provide H&S feedback to employees and supervisors.

4. Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.

- Post-secondary school education in an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
